Telepsychiatry

Telepsychiatry involves the use of technology, such as videoconferencing to provide psychiatric care where the patient and psychiatrist are located remotely from each other. Telepsychiatry can be used for assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and therapy. This mode of communication is especially advantageous for patients located in rural areas with limited access to care, for those who have mobility or transport issues, or simply for the ease and convenience of being able to see a psychiatrist from the comfort of your home. While there are many benefits to telepsychiatry, it is important to note that it may not be appropriate for everyone and some patients may require in-person care.

Why private pay?

Equilibrium psychiatry works on a private pay model for several reasons:

Confidentiality

I do not bill your insurance for services rendered, therefore your treatment is not part of your permanent medical record and is less likely to be accessed by third parties without your consent.

Personalized treatment

This is one of the biggest reasons for my desire to create a private pay practice. Insurances and hospitals/employers can often advertently or inadvertently create barriers and restrictions on the care provided by physicians. In my practice, the patient-physician relationship is one that is tailored to the needs of my patients.

Flexibility and quicker access to care

When it comes to flexibility, I am able to work with my patients on finding the most convenient times and days and offer after-hours or weekend appointments as well. Typically, my wait times are shorter than for those who accept insurance, allowing you to address your mental health needs in a more timely fashion.
